Memes-ville…

The talented & inspiring journal artist Robin tagged me to list 7 weird things about myself. The challenge is that I am constantly putting my weirdness out there into the world…is there anything about me that you don’t know? I know there’s a lot that you wish you didn’t know…heh. Ahem.

1. I managed not to vomit for 6 years (from ages 8 to 14). That changed when I bragged about my non-vomitness at a church girl’s camp. Never do that. Never brag about not vomiting. Because within 24 hours you’ll break your record. I got food poisoning that night (managed to stick my head out the tent door each time), but we did have to unstake the tent and move it. Ick.

2. I hate to run. If the world ends and we have to run to save our lives, I will lay down and offer myself as a decoy sacrifice so all you runners can get away. Seriously.

3. Years ago I had an impression that I would someday have a baby girl, and that all my journals (pages and pages of sentimental drivel) are for her. Guess what. I have 3 boys, and no plans or physical ability to have any more. Guess I’ll have to hold out for granddaughters.

4. I write poems. Bad ones. Wanna read one? No? You don’t want to have to poke your eyes out with sharp sticks? Oh, okay.

5. I have spilled orange juice on my pants 3 days in a row. I just did it again. Just now. I think I don’t know how to drink out of a glass without a straw any more. I need my straws.

6. I have only been to 3 live concerts which is a travesty and an embarrassment, and I am actually shocked that the universe hasn’t over-corrected or self-combusted because of it.

7. I have so many books stuffed into the 5-shelf bookshelf by my bed (and haphazardly piled on either side of it) that if we ever have an earthquake here, I am a goner. For sure. Headline will read, "Cuckoo book/art lady killed by novels and the occasional historical non-fiction volume."

Okay, I tag……….Kimberly, Lea, Lisa Pace, Wendy, Lisa, Celeste, and Kim.

Monday miscellania…

  • Spent 4 days at Women’s Conference last week. Had a nice time…came home with a messed-up back. Those hard chairs aren’t good for people with scoliosis. No siree.
  • Bought pink, purple, and green graph paper at the bookstore…stuff like that makes this messy scrapper very happy!
  • Made cornbread yesterday and totally messed it up (um, yeah, left out the sugar). Icky. We dumped it and I made cinnamon cake instead as a consolation. Nothing like chili and cinnamon cake. Mmm.
  • Today I need to dig out. I know my house is here somewhere under all this junk. And maybe I’ll get my suitcase put away before the end of May. There are so many fruit-by-the-foot wrappers around DS’s computer that they might actually be a nest for a small rodent.

A ScrapGal challenge…

I posted a challenge called "What’s Your Crime?" at the fabulous ScrapGal. I was browsing the internet and saw some fun pictures from Jane Magazine. They asked celebrities the question, "What’s Your Crime?"…and then they took pictures of the celebrity & confession. I got a big kick out of some of the photos…for example:

Very funny, no? So…the ScrapGal challenge was to answer the "What’s Your Crime?" question in a SB page. Here’s mine…

300 calories…

So, this is what a 300 calorie meal looks like (click on the link for more):

I went to the gym 4 times this week, which for is monumental since I really don’t like to exercise and I always feel like crud in the morning. My muscles don’t know what to think…they are wondering why they are actually being exercised. Overall it feels good, though. I’ve felt better this week than I have in ages. So, baby steps. Baby steps to health.

I will be teaching a class at…

Stampotique on June 2nd at 1:00 p.m….class is "Visual Journaling with the Self Portrait." Only $25. Yay! I hope people sign up…it will be embarrassing if no one does.

I was supposed to be doing a page-a-day challenge this week, but I failed. The mojo was not flowing and the fatigue was still raging so I attended to the most important tasks and let the scrapping slide. I did a few pages, nothing stellar. I did take the picture below for a LO I’m working on….

Barely surviving…

I’ve been in survival mode since before Easter, just going and running and coping and keeping my head above water. Sorta. I think there might be dust on my gesso and gel medium containers, and that’s just downright depressing. Kids told me today that there are 29 school days left, and I fainted. Well, almost fainted. I did moan at a high decibel level. That should count for something. 29 days….aack. I think this might be the "summer of teaching boys how to work the washer & dryer." Yeah, that’s the plan.
