Had an appt. today for a follow-up mammogram which actually turned out to be a breast ultrasound. Had the first mammogram last week, and got a call from the radiology place and my OB/GYN that I needed to get back in for "more views." It’s kinda freaky to be in Target, hear your cell phone ring, and pick it up to hear your OB/GYN’s voice on the other end. Even freakier is talking to him about your boobs while you’re standing in line at the pharmacy. Anyway, today was the follow-up. I haven’t been too concerned, but when I got into the ultrasound room and saw the look in the two technician’s faces, I thought maybe I should have been worrying all along. (Incidentally, this is not what I was referring to in my last post, it is not the something that is bothering me.) They did the ultrasound and exclaimed, "There’s another one!" and "Wow, that one is huge!" and "She has so many!" Yeah. Uh. Not good for the ole runaway-expect-the-worst imagination. There’s good news, though. Turns out the lumps were lymph nodes. Why I have so many and such huge nodes on my left side I do not know, and I didn’t think to ask until I was eating a bean burrito in my van in the Taco Bell parking lot 10 minutes later. Doh.
