Come and learn a fun technique to create a layered, painted
background but with no paintbrush! We’ll make several backgrounds and
then you can choose your two favorites and create simple collages on them.
Supplies needed:
–Acrylic white gesso
-Acrylic paints in a range of colors. I used purple,
gold/mustard, orange, various colors of blue, Payne’s Gray, and green. Contact
me if you want specific brands & color names.
–An old gift card or other rigid piece of plastic for
scraping paint.
–Good scissors for cutting collage elements.
–Matte medium or gel medium. For these collages, matte
medium is the easiest medium to use for applying the images. Gel medium will
work too, though.
–A brush to use for applying your matte medium or gel
medium.
–Pens for journaling & outlining (I use a white &
black extra-fine point Sharpie water-based poster pen).
–I will provide you with watercolor paper and the images
and papers necessary to make the two collages, as well as the words for the
Halloween poem. If you would like to bring your own images, though, you are
welcome to. You also might like to bring your own vintage book from which you
can cut out words & phrases for the little girl collage. I will have
several with me, but bring your own if you want something specific.
–If you want to work in your own journal, feel free to
bring it!
All images on these collages are from The Graphics Fairy.
