We ditched the 117 degree heat and headed for the beach (Del Mar, oh how we love thee)…hope your holiday was glorious.

Got tagged by Kathy M…the question is, "If you had the opportunity to do a 1-year internship in a company or field completely unrelated to your current career or specialty, what would be your top 5 choices?"
I would do….travel writer, travel photographer, restaurant critic, marine biologist, and art museum curator.
I tag Lisa!
I’m it!
I got tagged by the talented Rachael….
My roommate and I once: snuck into BYU’s movie sets through a golf course and walked around (the old west town is cool)…then to get out, we walked right past the security guard. Since it seemed we knew what we were doing (confidence is key), he didn’t even stop us.
Never in my life have I: had alcohol or smoked a cigarette.
High school was: fun, but life after high school is sooooo much better.
When I’m nervous: my palms sweat. Not good to have sweaty palms if you’re playing your flute in front of 300 people. Makes it easy for your fingers to slippy-slide right off the keys.
My hair: is going grey….nooooooooooooooo!
When I was 5: my best friend was Beth Flores, I learned to ride a bike, and I lived in Midland, MI.
When I turn my head left: I see my Napoleon Dynamite magnets. Flippin’ sweet.
I should be: helping Reed with the laundry.
By this time next year: I hope I’m thinner. And I hope I’ve been to Greece (hint, hint Reed).
My favorite aunt is: I don’t believe in picking favorites.
I have a hard time understanding: calculus, terrorism, hatred, and hot-pants.
You know I like you if: I seriously like almost everyone.
My ideal breakfast is: This is weird, but I love mini wheats. When we got back from England, I could not wait to eat a bowl of mini wheats. Sure, the classic English breakfast was good and filling, but I missed my minis.
If you visit my home town: You mean where I live now? Hmm. We’ll eat lunch at Chino Bandino and spend the day shopping/sightseeing.
If you spend the night at my house: We’ll stay up late laughing & talking, and I promise you clean sheets and no legos on the floor.
My favorite blonde is: Reed, of course.
My favorite brunette is: My 3 brown-headed fellas.
The animal I would like to see flying besides birds: I’m not into having more animals fly–wouldn’t want to be hit from above by cow droppings, now would you?
I shouldn’t have been: too many things…live & learn.
Last night I: went to bed and coughed until 3:00 a.m., then finally went to sleep. Yes, my life is so glamorous.
A better name for me would be: No idea, I’m open for suggestions.
I’ve been told I look like: Random people’s relatives or friends. I don’t think I have a celebrity doppleganger.
If I could have any car, it would be: I’d love a hybrid. Do they make Mini Coopers hybrid?
Since I’m the last person (probably) in the blogosphere to get tagged with this meme, I don’t know who to tag. How about if you’re reading this and you haven’t done it, you’re it! Ready, go!
The green tidal wave is slowly receding…
Full of it…
I’m totally full of it (i.e. snot). I should buy stock in Kleenex. Good thing I didn’t get hit by the green nastiness last week when I was madly scrapping….except I do have ScrapGal & Poppy Ink projects due soon. Doh.
Some of my Hambly favs…
Here’s the story of "artist"…I decided it would be awesome if I could handcut a piece of a Hambly design and use it as a mask on another Hambly paper. So, I painstakingly cut out a botanical element from a piece of PP and used it as a mask. And it didn’t work. I didn’t like the result…doh. But I liked the botanical piece that I had cut out (and it was now white from the gesso I used)…so I put it on a piece of cardstock, and created the LO above. The blue dotty stamp is from Stampotique. The pink around the edges is bias tape.
The sweet gal in the pic above is my niece. The tags just came to me, I did this whole LO in about 20 minutes. The silver around the pic is aluminum tape from Home Depot.
I love the LO above…it’s one of my faves. The copper scalloped strips are copper foil tape used for soldering.
The page above came together in about 20 mins, too. I altered the pic by scraping it with an awl and painting on it with gesso and watercolor crayons.
I got the idea in my little pea-brain to sew the overlay onto a big gap in the PP….thus this LO was born. Lots of bright colors here, but it works.
The rest of my LOs are in the "Hambly Guest Designer" photo album on the left…. 🙂
My Hambly gallery is UP…
Yay, it’s up! CLICK HERE for the link….
And Allison said she doesn’t mind if I post the pages here, so I’m gonna upload ’em later. Thanks to all for your encouragement and support…it means so much to me. 🙂 It’s nice to know I don’t totally stink…lol.
Final tally…
17 new, 2 oldies. Yay! I sent Allison the 19 layouts today…I’ll let you know when they’re up in the Hambly gallery. Woot!
Can I say again how honored and thrilled I was to be the guest designer for Hambly this month? Truly a pleasure, truly humbled, truly STOKED that I got to do this.
Status as of Thursday 2:34 p.m…..
16 keepers, 2 oldies that I’m going to use, 4 tossers………
Secret no more…
My secret is revealed here: CLICK HERE AND SCROLL DOWN A BIT.
Wheeeeee! I can’t tell you now excited, honored, and freaked out I am to be a part of this team. The kits are so fab (I’ve subscribed since the beginning!), the owner is an incredible artist and person, and I am just so stoked that she asked me to be on the team. So. Stoked.
