I've been on a face kick all day…spent some time "copying" faces made by the artists I admire. Very useful, I learned a lot. Then I printed out a picture of me & sketched it onto a background I had previously done. Next I painted it, trying to make it more "me"…if that makes sense. I like painterly brushstrokes, contrasting colors…texture and contour. So here's the result…it sort of looks like I overpainted a photo, but I didn't, I started from scratch w\/ just the sketch on the canvas. The eyes are wonky, but hey, I'm still learning. If you're worried about painting faces, I highly recommend overpainting photos first…it's great practice for the real thing!<\/p>\n
