Howdy, friends. I know, I have been a bad blogger. Just a little update on what's going on…
FINALLLLLLLLYYYY!
My paint and brushes are hitting the stores!! Woo hooo! The fabulous Ben sent me the pic above after he set up the goods in Art From the Heart in Harrogate, UK. I've also seen them trickle in to many stores here in the USA. Ask for them at your local store, they're shipping NOW.
The publication date for second book, Art Journal Courage, has been moved UP to the end of October. This is super exciting because it ensures the book will be in the store by the holidays. The change in deadline caused a ripple effect for everyone, though, as we scramble to adjust to the new timeline. I have an author review sitting on my table right now as we speak. You can preorder the book now:
And don't forget about my first book:
I've been traveling and teaching a lot, but not doing very many journal pages for ME. I need to fit that in somehow, and soon. I'll be in Australia next, at Pages2Scrap in Tuggerah! Check out my teaching schedule for the link, and come and take a class with me.
The last couple of days have been absolutely WONDERFUL because I've been able to laugh and recharge with the awesome and incomparable Dyan Reaveley. We've shopped, lunched, and even made awesome progress on a bunch of work that we had to do. Still working today, in fact! We have some plans in the works that we are both excited about…great things are to come.
Some of you know that my middle son has been struggling with health issues for a couple of years, starting with some weird parasites he picked up in Peru. This month we finally got some answers (I love Phoenix Children's Hospital) and he is already starting to feel better. Such a blessing. So grateful. That has taken a lot of my emotional energy and extra time, hence the bad blogging. Hope to do better in the coming months.
I do have some pages to share that I've done in classes…need to get them photographed. It's on the to-do list!!
Now, let's go make some art!!!
Guess what Ranger is bringing in….my FAVE pen, the Fudeball! YIPEEEEEEEEEE!
Vanessa Spencer from Stampington explains how she made this lovely project using my new stencils & masks:
Have YOU posted anything with my new Dina Wakley Media Line? Link me up!
Well, hello there!
It is so fun to see my Dina Wakley Media line products trickling out to stores, and to see the wonderful things you do with them! I've started a pin board where I pin projects made with my line:
And…here's an update on the paint. The tubes are being filled NOW! Woo hoo! So not much longer and it will be in stores.
Also, here's where I'll be in May!
May 2-4, 2014: PaperCraft Clubhouse, Westbrook, CT.
May 9-10, 2014: The Occasional Artist, Glendale, AZ.
May 23-25, 2014: Pages 2 Scrap, Tuggerah, Australia.
Yep, I'll be in AUSTRALIA! I taught there last year and loved it, can't wait to teach there again with my wonderful Aussie friends.
The journal page below really puts the "mix" in mixed media. It has: PanPastel, Dylusions, Dina Wakley Acrylic, Archival Ink, Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers, black gesso, and the FudeBall pen. Whew! And my stamp from the Scribbly Women set.
I got to attend the Collins show last weekend with Ranger and teach my first Ranger class for retailers. I enjoyed the experience immensely. First, it's just FUN to be with my Ranger peeps. They rock. Second, I love to teach my art, I really do. Third, I love to talk about my new Dina Wakley Media line and show how I use it.
I got to hang out with the always fabulous Dyan Reaveley. I love that woman so much! She's such an awesome friend and we support and cheer on each other. Love being part of the Ranger family with her.
Loved hanging out with Tim & Mario, too. They are such pros and have been so helpful as I've joined Ranger. I've been a Tim fan for years!
I don't know how I managed not to have a pic of Mario and the rest of the Ranger team–Alain, Colleen, Patti, and Steve. DUH! They all rock the casbah.
Be sure to check out Dyan's blog b/c she has more pics than I do!
I do have a pic of the gals from Scrabook Centrale in Montreal with their cool hand-painted bags, designed and taught by the talented Gisele:
And one of us outside the Eileen Hull's awesome Paper Trails camper:
If you have more pics of the show with me, send them my way! I met lots of new people and also got to see many dear friends. And I didn't make anyone cry in class (that I know of), so that's a plus. ha.
There it is!! Publication date is Dec 2014, so there's a bit of time to go. In the publishing world, they always do the covers first so they can get information out to stores who may want to order it. I got my manuscript in (a week early, too, BOOYAH) in mid-March. Now the book will be edited. After editing it goes to the graphic designer where he lays it all out and makes it look awesome. Then it goes to the printer. Then it goes out to stores. So there's some work ahead, still. But it's exciting to see the cover!! Woo hoo!
ETA: The cover is a mashup of three pieces I did for the book. Also, can you spot my Dina Wakley Media Line paints and stencils?
For one of my current classes, we've been making pages with cut-outs, flaps, and collage.
