I promise I’m not AWOL…
I've just been out of the country since July 27th. Had a great week in Barcelona with the fellas, and taught 2 days of workshops. Then headed to Harrogate, England and taught 3 more days. I'm exhausted but feeling inspired and happy. Spending a day in beautiful York, and then heading home on Wednesday!
Here are the fellas walking to the apartment we rented in Barcelona.
Up in the tower at La Sagrada Familia…
Gaudi's Park Guell…
On the steps of the cathedral in Girona…
Loving the fish stalls in the famous Boqueria market…
Amazing view over an amazing city!
When I get home, I'll do a separate post about the awesome art workshops in Barcelona & Harrogate…

Jenni Bowlin Studios New Release…
Jenni's release is chock-full of wonderful things…I actually gasped out loud when I saw the little chipboard that coordinates with the butterfly & pennant stickers! I really enjoyed playing with her new daubers & ink pads, too. The colors coordinate perfectly with JBS products. Try using the ink or paint over the JBS Coredinations cardstock…the textures really pop!

CHA fun…Hambly!
Hambly always has trend-setting, unique products. This release has to be one of my favorites. It's very usable, very fun!

A starry accordion book project…
Made this as a class sample, then changed my mind about it…it was a fun project, though!

Encaustic Tag Accordion Book
$35
Come and play with stamping and beeswax. We’ll be making six encaustic tags (acrylic paint, spray ink, beeswax…oh my!) and then putting them in a simple accordion book. You can definitely learn these techniques and then apply them to your art journaling. Fun!
Supplies Students Need to Bring:
–Standard Crafting tool kit (scissors, exacto knife & small mat, paint brushes, pencil, etc.)
–White acrylic gesso
–Gel medium
–Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
–A small collection of collage papers & fabrics that appeal to you. I will bring my standard box of papers, but your project will be more personal if you use papers & fabrics that you like.
–Any of your favorite stamps. I will bring an assortment for class use, but bring any that you like as well.
–Black ink pad. I used a Versafine pigment pad.
–OPTIONAL If you have an encaustic iron, please bring it. I will have 2 for class use, but if you have your own, you won’t have to wait in line.

Graffiti Of My Life
$40
Come and make a small themed journal based on the "Graffiti of My Life"….the words, quotes, song lyrics, etc. that are meaningful to you. We'll be making free-flowing backgrounds, tipped-in inclusions, and confined collages to decorate our journals.
Supplies Students Need to Bring:
–Standard Crafting tool kit (scissors, exacto knife & small mat, paint brushes, pencil, etc.)
–White acrylic gesso
–Gel medium (a must for this class….essential to one of the collage techniques)
–Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
–4 sheets of printed paper, such as pages from an old book, sheet music, newspaper…anything printed.
–A small collection of collage papers & fabrics that appeal to you. I will bring my standard box of papers, but your journal will be more personal if you use papers & fabrics that you like.
–A pen that will write over dried paint for journaling in the album.
–I will bring my sewing machine for sewing, but you can bring a needle & embroidery floss for hand-sewing (if you wish)
–Quotes, song lyrics, sage words of advice….any text that is meaningful to you in your life. You can just bring a list so you can hand-write it in your journal, and you can type it & print it and use the print-out in your journal.

Travel Journal (JBS Project Kit)…
Made this little travel journal with July's JBS project kit. It's one of those "impulse" projects where I don't cut everything exactly or make sure everything is perfect. In fact, I just grabbed ephemera from our Italy trip and stapled it in. The result is a very organic, scrappy journal full of fun memories.

Come & get scrappy with me in Vegas!
I'm teaching an "Inky Fingers" class (different ways to use ink in your scrapbooks) at the Get It Scrapped weekend retreat in Las Vegas, September 23rd – 26th. Several of the GIS teachers are doing classes as well…plus there are crops and other fun stuff planned! Hope you can join us!

If you’re taking my “painted portraits” class in the UK or Spain…
I love this class, and we're going to have tons of fun! I've taught this class a couple of times & have occasionally had frustrated students because they didn't bring pictures that are easy to work with. The success you'll have in this class hinges on the types of pictures you bring. I've decided to be much more emphatic about what you need…so, please make sure you bring:
**3 to 6 large portraits of you (or whoever you want to paint). For best success, the portrait should:
- Fill the WHOLE page. Enlarge the portrait so it fills an entire page. Seriously, the bigger the better.
- Be of just the face (or shoulders up). It's okay if some of the hair gets cut off, just get the face as big as you can.
- Be printed on a laser printer or be copied on a toner-based copy machine. Ink jet prints will smear. B&W or color is fine.
- If you can print it on cardstock, even better…if not, plain paper will work. Don't be alarmed if your picture looks pixelated when you print it…it will be just fine for this class.
If you don't have a way to get your pictures printed, I am happy to print them on my laser printer & bring them. You just need to email me your pictures by this weekend.
You will also need all the regular art journaling stuff (gesso, paint, gel medium, pen) and an assortment of brushes in different sizes.
