Alrighty, I promise I didn't forget about this. Remember a few months ago when I asked if there was any interest in a local mixed-media group? I was overwhelmed by the response (in a good way)!

So, I finally got it set up w/ Creative Quest. Here are the details for the first meeting:

Mixed Media Group: A Meeting of Like-Minded Artsy Souls, Tuesday, January 11, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Creative Quest in downtown Glendale. (Visit their site for address, directions, etc).

The first meeting we'll just get to know each other, and talk about the direction we want to go. Bring a piece of art that you've made that you love to put on display. No need to RSVP to me…if you wanna join, be there on the 11th. Sound good?

Squeezing in some time to do a quickie page. This Christmas break, I want to:

• do an art journal page every day
• read 4 books
• finish up assignments that I have due by Jan 1st

Wish me luck…heh heh.

Remember those American Express ads from a few years ago? I remember that we all created copycat scrapbook pages then using the journaling prompts in the ad. I pulled out that old ad and created another one for a challenge on the EntreArtistes blog. It really is a simple way to get some journaling down about yourself. And yeah, yeah, I know I need to take some new self portraits. 

This week we use Eileen's Treat Topper die. I made a quick homemade goodie bag and then put the treat topper on the top. The three gals behind the blog hop, Eileen, Brenda, and Karen, have started a new blog. Check it for more ideas!

I'm lucky to be the My Little Shoebox guest designer this month. They'll post my projects every Thursday. You all know how much I love color, and I really enjoyed the bright colors of the MLS products. Color makes me so happy! Here's the page they posted this week:

I'm really enjoying working in this smaller journal (it's about 5"x9" when closed). Don't get me wrong, I still love my mongo-mega-watercolor journal. But it's big…and sometimes change is good. This small journal is fun to work in and the pages come together quickly.

This week we celebrate Brenda's Sizzix XL Album Brackets die. I had a few pieces cut from felt, and I painted on them and sewed them to some fabric. I'm going to add a lining and make this into a journal cover.

I made this canvas journal cover with Claudine's Sticky Back Canvas, some of her new stamps, acrylic paints, and Tim Holtz Adirondack Color Wash inks. The pages of the journal are sewn right into the cover, quick & easy!
