I went to our Mixed Media Group meeting last night and just sat there and painted. I didn't bring spray ink, I didn't bring stencils…I just brought acrylics, brushes, and a pencil. It felt good to sit and do something and just go with the flow…not tied to a deadline or an assignment. This page started as an abstract background. I liked it, and I thought it was done…but as I looked at it, I saw some pointy shapes emerging. I highlighted the shapes thinking maybe they'd be windows. But as I painted them, I realized they were people and not windows. Now you can't see the original background much at all…funny how art evolves and changes as you go.

A couple of demo samples…
I did these two pieces while I was teaching a class in Florida…they're the demo pieces I created. Creating a piece in class while students watch is always an interesting experience. Something unexpected always happens…lol. They never turn out quite like I intend. But, that's the joy of it. I love how imperfect the girl is, how messy yet expressive. Sometimes "done" is better than "perfect."
