Join me for the first class in a year-long  Art
Journaling Inspiration
series! At each class, we’ll explore a topic to
inspire and fuel your art journaling and other mixed-media topics.

In January we’re going to explore one of our favorite
addictions, rubber stamps. But we are going to go beyond the ink pad and use
stamps with Pan Pastels, acrylic paints, Neocolor II crayons, and Faber Castell
gelatos. I will show you techniques for creating and then we will build finished
pages on top of our stamping–that means we’ll consider color, composition and
layers as we finish our work.

 Please bring:

Basic tool kit: Ranger craft sheet, paint brushes,
rag/cloth, pencil, scissors, water container to clean your brushes

Your art journal (I recommend the Dylusions journal by
Ranger)

Gesso

Acrylic paints

Rubber stamps–bring your “muses.” I will have some to
share, too!

Black Ink Pad (I like Archival by Ranger)

Pen(s) for journaling onto your pages

I will have to share
with the class:

Papers & ephemera

Pan Pastels & tools

Faber Castell Gelatos

Neocolor II Crayons

Magic pencils (Stabilo Marks All)

Stencils

Dylusions Ink Sprays

Various rubber stamps

Black ink pads (in case you don’t have one, I’ll have a few
to share)

You need the JBS January kit…

The January JBS kits? Swoon-worthy. So easy to use, so many cute little touches. Included in the kit is one of my new obsessions…an exclusive feather stencil! AAH! Love it.

Happy New Year! My top 12 of 2012…

Happy, happy 2013! I hope this year brings you blessings, peace, and lots of art. And cookies.

As promised, here are my "top 12 of 2012" journal pages…

This first one isn't a journal page, it's a canvas. But I love it. There's just something about the composition as a whole that made it "click" for me.

Canvas 01

This one's not a journal page, either…it's a crazy piece I did at ArtFest in Jesse Reno's class. It's big and weird and I just had so much fun creating it.

Af 06

I like this girl's weird coloring and strong attitude.

Girl 02

There's something so powerful in a gestural line…that's something I want to explore more in 2013.

Scribble 02

Half faces, but still powerful.

Two 01

A page about insecurities…don't we all have them?

Insecurities 01

I really love this one. I used it for my new business cards and some 5×7 prints.

One eye 01

I still love the power of simple shapes…like the heart.

Hearts 01

And this year saw the beginning of my gelli-printing obsession…

Gelatin 06

And my love of silhouettes rages on…

30

There is still no better place than a journal to spill out your emotions…

36

Let whatever you do today be enough. Amen.

Aj 06

Have a joyous New Year!

Introducing another new stencil design…Eye Chart

Here's another one of my new stencil designs! It's called, "Eye Chart." It continues my obssession with the alphabet. I love all things with letters.

Fun, don't you think?

Where can you buy these stencils? Ask for them at your local art and/or craft store.

When will the new stencils be available? They should be hitting the racks in early February!

Another new stencil…

Here is another one of my new stencils! It's called "Vine."

Vine

And a sweet scrapbook page I made with it….

Dina 04

Can you also spot it on this page?

Guess what time it is? Creative Jumpstart Time!

CJSLogo_500

I'm excited to be part of Creative JumpStart 2013! After last year's success of Creative JumpStart 2012, Nathalie Kalbach decided to organize it again. About 4,500 subscribers joined last year…amazing.

Watch this video to see who's participating:

Throughout January we will share videos showing tutorials to inspire you.

Posting a forgotten page…

I've been working on a big deadline and digging through my photo files, and found this page I don't think I ever posted. It's not a masterpiece, but it's what I did that day. I love the loose brushstrokes on it.

I know I haven't been posting as often. December craziness is at it's height here. We have 2 of my fella's birthdays, my husband's birthday, my wedding anniversary…plus that little holiday called Christmas this month. And, the grief and weight of Sandy Hook has made me withdraw.

How are you coping? Sending out peaceful, loving vibes to all of you.

Happy to be announcing new silhouette masks!

Wheee! I have been talking to Jaime from The Crafter's Workshop for the past year about doing silhouettes. I designed one for the last release, but we held it back to tweak it some more. For this release, we got it right. I have 7 silhouettes coming out at the Winter Jan 2013 CHA show (each sheet is available separately). Yay!

You wil be able to pop the silhouettes out of the sheet, and then have both the positive & negative versions.

I bet you'll recognize the silhouettes since I've been using them constantly the last month or so.
