Silhouette tags everywhere…

At the play table in The Crafter's Workshop at CHA last week, I had people play with my new silhouette masks & stencils by making tags. I came home with lots of them, since I was demoing them all day. I  stapled one into my journal as a reminder of the show. Lots of fun!

Join me for the second class in a year-long  Art
Journaling Inspiration
series! At each class, we’ll explore a topic to
inspire and fuel your art journaling and other mixed-media projects.

In February we’re going to explore one of my favorite
motifs, the silhouette. There is power and meaning and
mystery in a silhouette. Does it represent a person, or the absence of a
person?  First we’ll create layered
backgrounds with paints, sprays, and mediums. Then  I will show you how to create silhouettes and
integrate them blend into your work.

 Please bring:

Basic tool kit: Ranger craft sheet, paint brushes,
rag/cloth, pencil, scissors, water container to clean your brushes

Your art journal (I recommend the Dylusions journal by
Ranger)

Gesso

Acrylic paints

Pen(s) for journaling onto your pages (bring a white and a
black pen)

I will have to share
with the class:

Papers & ephemera

Neocolor II Crayons

Magic pencils (Stabilo Marks All)

Stencils & masks

Dylusions Ink Sprays

Inspired

Last year I had the privilege of making art with great people at Donna Downey's studio…an Inspired weekend. The event sold out so fast, that we're offering the same class again in April. Come and join us!

What makes an Inspired weekend special? To me, it's because it is:

  • personal
  • intensive
  • experimental
  • soul-filling

Can spill a “secret”…I designed checks!

I'm happy to announce that I have designed custom checks for Check Advantage. You can also get address labels and checkbook covers. It's such a thrill, and everyone at Check Advantage has been a dream to work with…great company.

I am who I am…

I was trying to copy one of Tina Berning's wonderful drawings in her book, 100 Girls on Cheap Paper. I didn't succeed very well…lol…but I will keep practicing.

So…am I intimidating?

People who were at R.S. last week will know what I mean by this. 🙂 Can you spot both my big and small vine stencil here, too?
