What I’ve been up to….

Hi, friends. I was doing so well with daily postings, but then I fell off the bandwagon. Since March, I have been in Norway, Holland, England, North Carolina, Australia, Toronto, Oklahoma, Westford, Mass, and Anaheim. I stil need to go to Baltimore, Waxahaxie TX, and Vancouver this month. I've even woken up in the morning a few times and not known where I am. Crazy!

Plus, this handsome fella graduated in the middle of it all:

Needless to say, I don't know what is up or down or sideways. I'm home for a couple of days, so I will get back to blogging. Plus, I'm participating in a blog hop on Thursday! Woot! More soon.

She’s got a friend…

Mindy Lacefield has inspired me to be aware of animal inspiration. I love her little coyote that has been showing up in her work.

Things she thinks…

Things I have been thinking about lately:

  • redoing my studio. It desperately needs to be gutted and renovated. Problem is = no time to do it myself, and lack of organization skills. I need help.
  • exercising. I bought a recumbent excercise bike. I like it. I am convinced, though, I don't get endorphins when I exercise. Seriously. But, I am trying.
  • books. Not enough time to read!!! But I love books so much.

What have you been thinking about lately?

Something to try…

Something to try…

I was dinking around on Pinterest and enjoying some art that had very distorted faces. It inspired me to draw these. They're ugly, but I guess that's the point. It's fun to exaggerate the features and see what happens.

Try drawing something and distorting it. It may not end up beautiful, but it will certainly be interesting.

Oooh, she’s kinda creepy…

Wow, she's kinda creepy! I still need to journal and add more layers. I stopped because I'm waiting to hear what she's telling me. I think she's telling me to eat ice cream…ha.

If you don’t, who will?

Be your own hero, you can do it. You don't need a handsome prince or superman. You can save yourself.

Now what?

I got the page this far…now what? Do you ever feel like that?

My next step from this point would be journaling. I still consider my art journal a JOURNAL…so I need to write on this.

Class sample from color class…

Here's one of the pages I made when I was teaching a recent color class. We practiced how to use contrast effectively without making mud.

Materials used:

  • Dylusions Creative Journal by Ranger
  • Acyrylic paint & gesso.
  • Stabilo All pencil.
  • Neocolor II crayons.
  • Book paper.
  • Watercolor paper.
  • Dylusions Ink Sprays.

It’s ok to just be.

Just be. Find some time today for simply being.

Let me know how it goes.

Ah, Monday…some quickies.

I came across these pages that I did a few weeks ago, and they make me smile. I was feeling stuck. So that's what I journaled about. Sometimes we feel like every page needs a pound of paint, or every page needs every trick we know. That's not true, sometimes it's good (and therapeutic) to do some quickies. Just express what's in your heart at the moment and move on.

The page on the left says, "stuck." And the page on the right says, "Imprisoned by my lack of skill." Have you ever felt like that?
