Scribbling my way to happiness…

I was inspired by this drawing by Rupert Bathurst. Unfortunately I don't have his skill, but I tried to emulate his style and learn from him on this page.

Just throwing paint and ink on paper…

These pages are from the playdate I had with myself…just threw some ink and paint on paper. These aren't done, maybe one day I will come back to them. Maybe I won't.

Trust the wild instinct…

Well, hello.

I finally got a chance to sit and journal for ME. I've worked so much this summer and I have had practically no art time for me, no time to experiment, no time to play. I was flipping through my old ledger journal and came across this page that I made months ago..

It was like I was speaking to myself through my journal…trust the wild instict within! Even though I had deadlines looming, I sat down and played for a couple of hours. I just had to! I'll share the results over the next couple of posts. I didn't make good art, and I didn't really even "finish" anything. BUT I put paint and ink on paper and oh my, it felt good. Was much needed.

When is the last time you sat down and made art with no end-result or goal in mind? Give yourself permission to make bad art and just GO.

My Fall Teaching Schedule

My last overseas trip this year is October…I will be in Norway at England. Yay! Art From the Heart just announced the classes today, so click on over and check it out.

So…in Sept I'll be at The Ink Pad in NYC and Scrapbook Centrale in Montreal. And at the Collins show (for retailers).

In Oct I'll be in at Hobbykunst in Norway and Art From the Heart in England. And at Frenzy Stamper in Scottsdale.

In Nov I'll be at Stamp Asylum in Plano, TX and The Queen's Ink in Baltimore, MD. And at The Occasional Artist in Glendale (we just added a THIRD class b/c the other two are full, so call quick).

We'll get the rest of the Oct and Nov links up soon on my teaching schedule.

I'm going to start booking my 2015 schedule next week. Excited to continue sharing my love of mixed media around the world!

Playing with my new Ranger release! Yay for new stamps and stencils!

Howdy! I have been traveling and teaching like a madwoman this summer. I have barely been home two weeks in the last few months. As a result, my house is WAY dirty and I can't remember half the time if I'm coming or going.

I'm glad to finally have a chance to share some samples I made with the my new Ranger release. It is all shipping now, so ask for it at your local store.

First let me share the new stamps:

Dw from the past

Above: From the Past. I love these women, they will be so fun to play with. AND, one of the images is my grandmother. Can you guess which one?

Dw handwritten quotes

Above: Handwritten Quotes. I've had a lot of requests for phrases done in my handwriting. Ask and ye shall receive!

Dw primitive icons

Above: Primitive Icons. I love these and am sort of obsessed with the leafy one down at the bottom. These are great for both focal point images and background stamping.

Dw scribbly insects

Above: Scribby Insects. HELLO! Don't you love them? I thought I'd be obsessed with the butterfly, and it is great, but I have to say I cannot stop using that little bee.

Now, on to the stencils.

Dw mosaic swirl

Above: Swirl Mosaic. This comes from a photograph that I took in Rome. I love mosaics, such a fun stencil. People in my classes have been going crazy for this one!

Dw spinners

Above: Spinners. This one is an homage to my childhood (I grew up in Michigan, Ohio, and England). I loved the seed pods that fell off the trees, we loved to throw them in the air and watch them spin down.

Dw upi cam

Above: You Can. I love positive self talk, positive phrases.

Dw stenciled maggie Dw stenciled queenie

Above: Stenciled Maggie and Stenciled Queenie. These large stenciled women are SO fun to play with. I designed them to go on journal pages (or hey, you can become a Banksy protege…heh). I had someone say she didn't understand why one of them only has one eye. My only explanation is she looked better that way when I designed her. I left it open so that you can fill it that area with something else–an image, a word, etc.

Dw stenciled women

Above: Stenciled Women. Half-size versions of the single stencils, good for tags, cards, etc.

Now…on to the samples! These are tags and cards. I will get some journal pages up next week.

Products used: Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints (no gesso, SHOCKER), Archival inks, Dylusions ink sprays, Tim Holtz Mini Blending tool, Dina Wakley Media brushes, black Fudeball pen. I'll list the stamps & stencils I used under the samples.
