Dina

checking in…howdy!

Howdy doody my friends!

I think I am still in survival mode…barely holding on, yet again. Seems to be the way life is now, doesn't it? I have two whole weeks at home now, wow, luxury! I do have a big deadline to hit in the next couple of days, though. So no rest for the weary. I have done some journaling and I will photograph and post it over the next few weeks. Pinky swear.

Passion for Printmaking

In May, find me at: Betty's Creative Studio in Greensboro, North Carolina; Dorothy's Stamps-n-Scraps in Boiling Springs, North Carolina; The Occasional Artist in Glendale, AZ; and Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook, CT.

In June, find me at: Clipper Street Scrapbooking in Langley, Vancouver, Canada; and Art Journaling Live at GASC in Arlington, Texas.

In July, find me at: Ephemera Paducah in Paducah, KY; Ink Paper Rubber in Overland Park KS; Scrapbook Island in Los Gatos, CA; and Studio CrescenDoh in Santa, Ana, CA.

Almost all of those stores have already announced classes, and the ones that haven't will likely announce soon. The best way to find out about classes it to get on the mailing lists for the stores, check their websites regularly, and also join their Facebook pages. Come and make art with me! I consider it one of my life's greatest privileges to make art with you. I really do.

You can find links to all these locations on my teaching schedule, click here.

Last video…metallics!

Today is the last day of Dina Wakley Media week. Awww, it has been a blast! Click below to see the last video, introduction to Metallics. I am at the airport now and my ipad isn't awesome for postng on my blog…doh. So I will embed the video here when I get back. Enjoy!

Time for day 4 of DWMedia week…Glazing Medium!

Today I show you one of the uses for glazing medium.

You can mix it 1 part paint to 10 parts medium if you want just a light tinted glaze to put it over your work. Here I mixed it about half in half so I would have lots of pigment and slower drying time.

Enjoy!

Here’s the day 3 video…Printing with the Fine Line Applicator!

We're posting some other fun pictures and behind the scenes tidbits on the Ranger Ink facebook page and on my Art of Dina Wakley facebook page.

Dina week 3

Dina Wakley Media Week means that every day this week, I will share with you a little video that has tips, tricks, and techniques using my new Dina Wakley Media products that came out at the January CHA show.

Yesterday's video was Introduction to the Fine Line Tip Applicator.

Today's is Doodling with the Fine Line Tip Applicator.

Enjoy!

Note: I get asked all the time where you can buy my stuff. The BEST place to buy it is at your local scrapbooking, stamping, or mixed-media arts store! Find one near you and give them a call. If you live far away from a store, most will happily ship to you.

All of the products from this week will be hitting stores SOON!

The cure for an ugly page…

Here's the cure for an ugly page.

Paint something BIG and BOLD over it.

I had an ugly page…it was half done, part of it was torn off because it had stuck to the facing page. So I just grabbed a brush and painted a big and bold face over it. Voila, easy peasy and done. Remember done is better than perfect!

You have to make.

This page came to be when I was feeling like I couldn't remember how to make art any more.

Do you ever feel like that?

I think the cure for that feeling is to make. Make something. Anything. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to be made. Once you start moving your hands, good things will happen. But *nothing* will happen if you don't make.

Release yourself from the need to have all of your art be good, and just make.

Sharing a little peek from the retreat…

One of the goodies that artists received at the Back2Back retreat is an exclusive stamp set with images designed by me and Dyan! Here are a few pages using the images and the techniques I taught. These techniques will be in my new 2015 class called "Random by Design."
