A Fall card with Scribby Birds on Branches…

If you pick up the Fall issue of Craft Ideas Magazine, you'll see how I made this cute bird card. I used my Scribbly Birds on Branches stamp set. There's also a cool project by Tim Holtz in the same issue!

August Release with Ranger, Ink!

Hello, hello! I am excited to share my August release with Ranger Ink. Woo hoo!

First up…clear gesso. I filmed a little video about using clear gesso and it will be on the Ranger blog really soon. Clear gesso is fun because it doesn't hide whatever you're putting it on. It's great for when you want to add strength and tooth to a surface for mixed media, but you don't want to cover the surface with a white or black color. Try using it on fabric, text paper, ledger paper, scrapbooking paper, etc. You can also use clear gesso as a sealer, and it's great for acting like a workable fixatif over slippery surfaces (like glue and gel medium). Clear gesso is a wonderful addition to the Dina Wakley Media range of mediums.

Next…paint combs! These are simply awesome. They're BIG, which I love. Their size means you can cover lots of surface area with just a swipe. They're heavier than a regular stencil so they hold up to the combing on your pages and printing surfaces. Try these on your gelli plate, deli paper, and even journal pages. They work great with my heavy body acrylics because the acrylics will hold shape and texture when you comb through them. The edges are all a different pattern and you can combine them for many combinations and looks. In the center of the combs is a stencil pattern because I just couldn't resist using that space for more shapes and texture. Big thanks to Debbie Tlach at Ranger for helping me make my vision of these a reality. Look for a video soon on the Ranger blog with ideas for using these versatile tools.

Next…new stencils! I always say stencils are the bread and butter of mixed media. They are inexpensive and there are so many ways to use them. You can get a lot of mileage out of a stencil.

Hey You has lots of art sayings that I say a lot…including my motto, "Oops, Oh well":

Bold Journal Elements come from my stencil designs. They're great for repeating imagery and building layers:

Grungy Stars are so versatile. Try them for holiday or night time or celestial themed projects:

Scribbly Alphabet is great for when you don't want to use your own handwriting to add journaling or a quote to your work:

Scribbly Birds in Flight are artsy and beautiful:
