Wanna win a little somethin’ somethin’….

Oodles

Michelle Houghton is teaching an awesome class at Get It ScrappedOodles of Doodles. I checked out Michelle's free warm-up lesson, and I was really inspired! The class has lots of cool scrapbooking possibilities…and lots of art journaling possibilities, too. I always tell people I don't know how to draw, but I think Michelle's class will give me some tips & some confidence. Oodles of Doodles starts on Monday, June 15th!

And….I'm giving away one free spot in Oodles of Doodles…woo hoo! Just post a comment and I'll draw the winner on Sunday night on Monday morning!

It’s up!

My "Masterful Art Journaling" class is open for registrations! Yay!

I often get questions about my art journaling classes and what they cover, and if one should be taken before another. I thought I'd give a brief overview of each class…

Art Journaling 101: Beginning Your Art Journaling Journey.

  • AJ101 is the very basics…it's great if you're a beginner and have never art journaled before.
  • The class has both an art component (where I teach you how to go through creating a textured background, adding collage elements, etc), and a writing component (where I give you tools to start recording your daily life to put in your journal).
  • There are 8 lessons (4 art and 4 writing). There are 4 videos that go with each week's art lessons…plus a bonus spray ink tutorial & video.
  • You can take this class at any time in its "archived" or home-study format. All the materials are up, and I check the boards regularly for questions & concerns.

Art Journaling 102: Amping Up Your Art Journaling.

  • AJ102 is full of techniques to "amp up" your art journaling. It assumes you know the basics of creating art journaling pages, and just gives you ideas for techniques you can do on them.
  • There is no writing component to AJ102, it's just art ideas.
  • We focus on images, layers, and textures in the 6 lessons. There are also videos.
  • This class is sort of like a "look what fun things you can do on your pages" class.
  • You can take this class at any time in its "archived" or home-study
format. All the materials are up, and I check the boards regularly for
    questions & concerns.
  • You can take AJ102 if you haven't taken 101, especially if you're comfortable with gesso, paint, and gel medium.

Art Journaling 201: Masterful Art Journaling.

  • AJ201 focuses on getting inspiration from great masters of art. We'll explore artists' lives, work, and world views, and we'll use that exploration as jumping off points for our own personal art journaling.
  • This class is all about play…about seeing what happens why you try something new, and about gleaning inspiration from the world of art.
  • 8 lessons–4 art related and 4 prompt/journaling related. Videos, too, of course! 🙂
  • This class will assume you know the basics of creating art journal pages (using gesso, acrylic paint, gel medium, texture tools, etc.).
  • The first lesson goes live on June 30th!
  • As soon as you sign up & get registered by Debbie, you'll have access to the forum, where you'll find a Welcome and the supply list.

A little teaser….

I have another class starting in late June at Get It Scrapped. Art Journaling 201: A "Masterful" Journey will start on June 29th and go for 4 weeks….and I am so, so stoked about it. Preparing and writing the class has been so inspiring–I was literally skipping around the house after I worked in my journals for the class.

If you're interested in playing in your journals in a new way, this is the class for you! It will have both an art component and a writing/prompt component, and we'll be taking our inspiration from 4 art masters. We'll explore their art, their world view, and glean some inspiration from them for our own personal journaling.

Intrigued? Here are a few peeks….  I'll let you know when registration opens.
