Here are pics for my local Graffiti of My Life class…

Here's the finished sample for the Graffiti of My Life class that I'm teaching at The Creative Quest in downtown Glendale on June 5th (see all the details below the pictures!) I am headed down to the store now to drop off the sample so you can go in & fondle it and decide if you want to join us.

Graffiti Of My
Life
$40

Come and make a small themed journal based on the
"Graffiti of My Life"….the words, quotes, song lyrics, etc. that are
meaningful to you. We'll be making free-flowing backgrounds, tipped-in
inclusions, and confined collages to decorate our journals.

Supplies:
Standard Crafting tool kit (scissors, exacto
knife & small mat, paint brushes, pencil, etc.)
White acrylic
gesso
Gel medium (a must for this class….essential to one of the collage
techniques)
Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
4 sheets of printed
paper, such as pages from an old book, sheet music, newspaper…anything
printed.
A small collection of collage papers & fabrics that appeal to
you. I will bring my standard box of papers, but your journal will be more
personal if you use papers & fabrics that you like.
A pen that will write
over dried paint for journaling in the album.
I will bring my sewing machine
for sewing, but you can bring a needle & embroidery floss for hand-sewing
(if you wish)
Quotes, song lyrics, sage words of advice….any text that is
meaningful to you in your life. You can just bring a list so you can hand-write
it in your journal, and you can type it & print it and use the print-out in
your journal.
I will be giving you a simple journal structure to work
in…but if you'd like to bring a new blank journal (around medium size, say 5"
x 9" or therabouts), you're welcome to.

Finding Journal Inspiration in Great
Art
$35

Come to class & get ready to play! We're going to
explore some great art and let it affect and inspire our own journals. We'll
discuss and explore a variety of artists & their work, and we'll use their
work as a jumping off point for our own journaling. We're not going to copy the
artists (if only!), but we'll try out some their colors, their brushstrokes, and
even their artistic visions.

Supplies
Standard Crafting tool kit
(scissors, exacto knife & small mat, paint brushes, pencil, etc.)
White
acrylic gesso
Gel medium or other adhesive
Acrylic paint in your favorite
colors
4 sheets of printed paper, such as pages from an old book, sheet
music, newspaper…anything printed.
A pen that will write over dried paint
for journaling in the album.
I will provide watercolor paper for you to work
on, but if you'd prefer to work in your own journal, please do!

You’ve seen this motif from me many times…

because when I teach my "Introduction to Art Journaling" class, I create a page like this as I go. As I result, I end up with lots of versions of these 3 silhouettes. For the last class I taught, I worked on watercolor paper, and when I got home I just glued it onto a pre-done background in my journal. Nothing earth shattering, but I do like the colors on this one.

Guest CT layouts for Sausan Designs…

If you haven't heard of Sausan Designs, you really must go check it out. They have wonderful digital scrapbooking elements, kits, etc…really unique & cool! Here's the link to their gallery, so you can check out the amazing pages there. As you know, I'm digi-impaired, so I print out the digi goods & create hybrid layouts. I had a blast! Thanks for having me as your guest, Sausan Designs! 🙂

Calling this page “done.”

This page has been partially done for weeks (my journal is always full of started & stopped pages). I added a bit o' text and pronounced it complete.
